Visits & Events Overview
ContentPicture

The Cathedral is the spiritual centre of the City, the Mother Church of the Diocese, the parish church of the County, a place of national heritage and a centre of international pilgrimage. It provides a space for God, a focus for prayer and an opportunity for praise and worship.

In any one year there are 1768 statutory services in the Cathedral. In addition to this, special services, exhibitions, concerts and other events total in excess of 250, so the Cathedral is very much an activity centre, as well as a worship centre with sacred events at its core. The worship of God has been continuously offered within its walls since 1092.
